Viva-Brazil is the premiere Brazilian dance performance troupe in the Southeast. The team is made up of the best percussionists, acrobats, martial artists and Samba dancers in the area. Founded in 2010 by Dabney and David de Lima, Viva-Brazil was the first Brazilian dance troupe ever featured in an NFL Half Time show, performing at the Georgia Dome for the Atlanta Falcons. Viva-Brazil has also performed on America’s Next Top Model, CNN Espanol, at the Rialto Theater, the National Black Arts Festival, Fiesta Atlanta and many other events. Uhuru Dancers, Inc.
Uhuru Dancers, Inc. is a traditional African dance company. The name means freedom in Kiswahili. Uhuru is a community based non-profit organization that has been empowering the Atlanta area through African Culture since 1989. The company was established with the purpose to uphold a strong legacy of African culture through dance, rhythm, song, and folklore. The dance troupe was founded by Toni Young, Shaheedah Enahora, Tina Scoop, and Celeste Anthony. It is the oldest professional African dance company in the Metro Atlanta Area, and at least 100 members have passed through the ranks of Uhuru in its many years of operation. ZX Idol Winner 2013: Renate Simpson-Trussell
Renate’s style, attitude and smooth moves made her the winner of a very competitive year of ZX Idol in 2013. She will bring that creative choreography and high energy to this year’s World Dance Workouts. Renate’s Zumba class is a session you will not want to miss!
A cum laude graduate of Brenau University with a degree in Music-Vocal Performance, Renate discovered an early love of the stage and performing arts. She performed in both operatic and theatrical shows while choreographing routines for local youth dance troupes.
Renate is licensed in Zumba Basic 1 and 2; Zumba Kids/Zumba Kids Jr., Sentao and Zumba Step. She has presented throughout Georgia individually and as a part of the Zumba team, RMR. Currently, Renate teaches at BodyPlex in Cumming, Georgia and Cosmos Gym in both Sandy Springs and Marietta, Georgia.
Renate and her husband of 23 years, Tavis, share their lives with two artistic and talented children, Tevin and Truth.
ZX Idol Finalist: Club Vibe™ – Ally Ponte
Last year’s ZX Idol was a fierce competition. We loved finalist, Ally Ponte, so much we invited her back this year to present Club Vibe during our World Dance Workouts. Her hip hop dance choreography is easy to follow but will leave you sweating and wanting more, more, more!
Ally is the creator and master trainer for Club Vibe™, Christian Vibe, Vibe Infusion, Vibe Smash and owner of Studio 13 Fitness, a mobile dance fitness studio based out of Forsyth County, GA. Ally has been certified group fitness professional for over 20 years. With a background including personal training, fitness presenter, instructor trainer, choreographer as well as group fitness instructor, she approaches “teaching” from a place of both passion and experience. When she is not choreographing new routines she can be found “whooping it up” with friends in class.
Ally has made it her goal to surround herself with creative, fun and motivational instructors who share her passion and vision. Her dedication to the S13 Team and Club Vibe™ brand are undeniable. If you ask her, she will tell you she is a constant work in progress…always learning and looking to grow. If you stand next to her long enough, she will probably talk you into going along for the ride!
Ally’s certifications include: ACE, AFAA, Zumba, Zumba Kids, Zumba Toning, Balletone and Insanity. In addition, Ally is a Master Instructor for LifeTime Fitness in Georgia. She is also a presenter at Empower Atlanta and ATL Mania.
Real Deal in Heels – Richard Martinez
Get ready for a sexy dance performance with Richard Martinez during ZXplosion’s Costume Carnival.
Richard grew up dancing to Latin beats such as meringue and salsa in his Puerto Rican household. Throughout high school and college, Richard trained in classical Ballroom dance, and in 2009, he discovered a love for Zumba. As a Zumba Instructor, he attended the Zumba national convention in 2010, 2011 and 2012 where he studied world dances such as Bhangra and Bollywood, which he has incorporated into his Zumba fitness workouts.
In June of 2012, Richard opened the doors of his own studio, R.A.M. FIT, where he offers Zumba, R.I.P.P.E.D., Bollywood Fusion, and Core Blast. He also served as a top dance professional in the Alzheimers Association’s annual fundraiser, “Dancing Stars of Columbus”, where we helped raise over $1,000,000.
Inspired by YouTube sensation, Yanis Marshall, a French choreographer known for dancing in high heels, Richard started teaching Real Deal in Heels (RDH). He’s been blessed to present RDH throughout the east coast and now ZXplosion!
Tribal Fusion Bellydance – Heidi Hernandez
Heidi Hernandez’s Tribal Fusion session during the ZXplosion World Dance Workouts will give you a sexy core workout! Learn moves from the nomadic people of North Africa, India, Persia, and Spain (just to name a few) and enjoy dancing them to modern beats. This sneaky workout will have you dancing in no time and enjoying every minute of it!
Heidi Is a lifelong student of dance. From a young age she trained in ballet, jazz, tap, African, and any other dance form she could take a class in. These days she concentrates on Tribal Fusion Belly Dance, Modern, and Cuban-flavored Salsa. She is a member of the Jahara Phoenix Dance Company and Artistic Director of the Salsa Belles of the ATL. She is gearing up to launch her own company Heidi.baila, dedicated to her work as a choreographer, dance instructor, and performer.
